I Only Know Who I Am When I Am Somebody Else
Title : I Only Know Who I Am When I Am Somebody Else
Author : Danny Aiello
Publisher: Simon and Schuster
Total pages: 320 pages
Beloved stage and screen actor Danny Aiello’s big-hearted memoir reveals a man of passion, integrity, and guts—and lays bare one of the most unlikely success stories ever told. Danny Aiello admits that he backed into his acting career by mistake. That’s easy to see when you begin at the beginning: raised by his loving and fiercely resilient mother in the tenements of Manhattan and the South Bronx, and forever haunted by the death of his infant brother, Danny struggled early on to define who he was and who he could be. It wasn’t until he took to the stage in the wee hours to belt out standards that Danny Aiello found his voice and his purpose: he was born to act. Performing in converted churches and touring companies led to supporting roles in such films as The Godfather: Part II and Moonstruck, and an Oscar nomination for his role as the embattled Salvatore in Spike Lee’s Do the Right Thing. For a guy who had never set foot in an acting class, this was supreme validation for being an outsider who followed his heart. In a raw and real chronicle of his gritty urban past, Danny Aiello looks back with appreciation, amusement, and frank disbelief at his unconventional road to success. He offers candid observations on working with luminary directors Francis Ford Coppola, Woody Allen, and Robert Altman, among others, and a vast roster of actors, including Robert De Niro, Paul Newman, Madonna, Cher, and Lauren Bacall. He opens up about friends he loved, friends he lost, and the professional relationships that weren’t meant to be. Above all, Danny Aiello imparts a life lesson straight out of his own experience to anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider: It’s never too late to become who you want to be, to find happiness and fulfillment, and to embrace the winding road to get there.

"Including interviews from Freddie Mercury's closest friends in the last years of his life, along with personal photographs, Somebody to Love is an authoritative biography of the great man. Woven throughout Freddie's life is the shocking story of how the HIV virus came to hold the world in its grip, was cruelly labelled 'The Gay Plague' and the unwitting few who indirectly infected thousands of men, women and children--Freddie Mercury himself being one of the most famous."--

Joanna Scott's unparalleled gift for storytelling has inspired hyperbole from critics and her devoted fanbase, which includes some of the most preeminent writers of our time. But not since Various Antidotes, a finalist for the PEN/FaulknerAward, has she turned her talents toward short stories. At the seaside wedding of two lovers kept apart by the caprices of fate, a doting uncle looks on while his errant brother, father of the bride, struggles to free himself from a locked bathroom across town. A young woman arrives in Jazz Age New York with stars in her eyes and a few coins in her pocket and after a string of failed jobs, she thinks she's found salvation in a romance with her boss at a local greasy spoon but learns that her idea of herself and others'ideas of her are quite different. A bright business man seems content with all the trappings his good fortune affords, until a flat tire and a chance encounter with a couple of mechanics in the country upsets his entire view. Here Joanna Scott offers a group of tales that celebrate her acknowledged sense of character, plot and her gift for capturing the breathtaking tension even in life's quietest moments.

Forgiveness will unleash a power in your life that is underrated and often ignored. It is underrated mainly because it is underused. We fail to capture the power of forgiveness because we are afraid of it, because we have grown comfortable in our familiar wounds, or because we are sinfully stubborn. But the power is there waiting for us. The lesson is simple: Give forgiveness and you will unleash a flood of grace on yourself and on those around you. When you clench your fists and grit your teeth in anger toward someone, you have no room in your heart for God to place His hand in yours. Replace your clenched fist with an open hand and watch as God fills your soul to overflowing. This little book, and the twelve real-life stories in it, will help you capture the power of forgiveness in your life. Because everybody needs to forgive somebody.

For many African Americans of a certain demographic the sixties and seventies were the golden age of political movements. The Civil Rights movement segued into the Black Power movement which begat the Black Arts movement. Fast forward to 1979 and the release of Sugarhill Gang's "Rapper's Delight." With the onset of the Reagan years, we begin to see the unraveling of many of the advances fought for in the previous decades. Much of this occurred in the absence of credible, long-term leadership in the black community. Young blacks disillusioned with politics and feeling society no longer cared or looked out for their concerns started rapping with each other about their plight, becoming their own leaders on the battlefield of culture and birthing Hip-Hop in the process. In Somebody Scream, Marcus Reeves explores hip-hop music and its politics. Looking at ten artists that have impacted rap—from Run-DMC (Black Pop in a B-Boy Stance) to Eminem (Vanilla Nice)—and puts their music and celebrity in a larger socio-political context. In doing so, he tells the story of hip hop's rise from New York-based musical form to commercial music revolution to unifying expression for a post-black power generation.

This book uses a neo-Aristotelian framework to examine human subjectivity as an embodied being. It examines the varieties of reductionism that affect philosophical writing about human origins and identity, and explores the nature of rational subjectivity as emergent from our neurobiological constitution. This allows a consideration of the effect of neurological interventions such as psychosurgery, neuroimplantation, and the promise of cyborgs on the image of the human. It then examines multiple personality disorder and its implications for narrative theories of the self, and explores the idea of human spirituality as an essential aspect of embodied human subjectivity.

I Am Somebody God Don't Make No Junk

Author : The Village Carpenter

God has taught us to speak His Word, not words of destruction or perverseness. The Junk of the world does not heal, deliver or save a Soul. We realize we must live in this world, thus we must be able to communicate on the worlds level. That's where wisdom comes into our lives. We can use the world's wisdom to back up our knowledge of what God's wisdom entails. God has made each of us different but none of us are Junk. God is able to guide us through this life so that we can become the man or woman He intended for us to be. This only happens when we give our lives to Him and follow Him. The rest of this book explains several things we have learned while serving the Lord. We remember as a young boy, in a small town, being told to always tell the truth... We were in Sunday School on Sunday mornings and are sure much was taught about telling the truth. Now, 60 some years later... We as a nation are caught in the middle of a discussion about National Security because of a private citizen talking to a Russian Ambassador about scansions... And Who leaked it? George Orwell wrote a book called, Nineteen Eighty-Four, often published as 1984, is a dystopian novel published in 1949 by English author George Orwell. It seems today, everybody is "Big Brother" watching us all as we are going about our day to day activity. There are people with cell phones, Ipads, tablets and so many other items of technology that are used to, sneak around on our neighbors. Help us Lord... As You have told us to, not bear false witness against our neighbor. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Matthew 19:18 In 1879 it seems there was a law passed by Congress that makes it illegal for a private citizen to talk to a government official of another country. How would we know this... Our education system does not teach History... At least as I remember it... We never discussed laws like this... As I remember it. My History teacher Mr. Wilson did an excellent job with the things he did teach us. There are also news agencies reporting "false news" or "fake news reports" What's going on here? How are these people going to stand in judgement before Jesus and explain what they have done? There is another verse that I think of daily... But if ye will not do so, behold, ye have sinned against the LORD: and be sure your sin will find you out. Numbers 32:23 One by one we are seeing it take place now... Now back to our false witness verses, A false witness shall not be unpunished, and he that speaketh lies shall perish. Proverbs 19:9 A few days ago, we talked to Pastor Chris Todd of United Christian Center. We asked if we could get together to discuss Pastor Doris Swartz video's we have put up on YouTube. We shared with him some of the miracles Father God has done here at God's House International. Brother Chris asked if we could come to UCC and share with his congregation? We said we would pray about it and get back to him. Later in the evening I got Joy bedded down for the night. After our prayer time... Joy said, "Charlie... If you want to go to UCC on Sunday, that's ok with me. When you all prayed for me today... I think I was healed; because, I have no pain in my shoulders." You see there was more to Joys writings today. She said, The Salvation Army came and picked up the broken lift chair and the 400 shirts we got from a business that closed. We are helping The Indian Lake Baptist Church to build their new church building. The young man that was driving the van sings at Only Believe Ministries Community Church. This is Joy's church of 25 years. This confirmed to Charles that we were doing the right thing by the shirts. You see... We set up a GoFundMe account to raise money by selling the shirts. We raised very little money. This didn't work. We set up another GoFund Me account to raise money to take the shirts to
